Health and education are closely connected and serve as the foundation for the creation of a vibrant, liveable community. As the urban hub of Eastern Ontario, Kingston has four state of the art healthcare facilities that are home to experienced specialists and world renowned researchers. In addition to providing key services, Kingston's hospitals are also teaching facilities and doctors are jointly appointed with Queen's University. This partnership fosters cutting edge medical research that regularly makes national and international headlines and ensures that Kingston remains a hub of healthcare development. In 2016, the City unveiled Providence Care, an $800M mental health care and rehabilitation facility.
The ability of the city to attract and retain quality healthcare is closely connecting to Kingston's postsecondary offerings. The world class education offered at Queen's University, St. Lawrence College, and the Royal Military College of Canada attracts tens of thousands bright young minds to the city every year, many of whom decide to stay, live, and work in Kingston.
