LibrariesAs a resident in the City of Kingston, you have many options for accessing books and information for personal or professional purposes.  Being home to three post-secondary institutions provides Kingstonians with a wealth of resources.  So whether it's for a love of reading, the comforting smell of archives in "the stacks" or access to research treasures, please enjoy Kingston's libraries and archives. 

Kingston Frontenac Public Library

If you live in the City of Kingston or the Township of Frontenac, you are entitled to a free library card.  If you live outside those areas, an adult membership is $40, with free membership for your children under the age of 16 years.  Visit the Kingston Frontenac Public Library website at http://www.kfpl.ca to learn about programs for children, library events and to browse their online catalogue.

Queen's University Libraries

Community members are welcomed at all Queen's University libraries.  On-site use of the collections is free and a $50 library card will allow you to borrow books.  You can purchase a Community Borrower's Card at the circulation desk in either Bracken Health Sciences Library, the Engineering and Science Library (in the Douglas Library building), the Education Library, the Law Library, or in Stauffer Library. The Community Borrower's Card is for the cardholder's personal use. It may not be transferred to other individuals or used for business purposes.

Queen's University Archives

Queen's University Archives, located in Kathleen Ryan Hall is open to the public Monday to Friday year round (except for the period from Christmas to New Year's). Facilities and services include a public reading room, research consultation services, research retrieval and reprographic service. The Queen's University Archives houses approximately 10 kilometres of textual records, 2 million photographs, tens of thousands of architectural plans and drawings, and thousands of sound recordings and moving images.
