Kingston is home to two English and two French school boards offering Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12/IB classes:
- The Limestone District School Board is a non-denominational board which serves over 23,000 students at its 55 elementary and 11 secondary schools; 14 of which offer French immersion. The LSDB also administers the Limestone School of Community Education.
- The Conseil des Ecoles Catholiques du Centre-Est de l´Ontario oversees all Catholic French schools in Eastern Ontario. The CECCE operates 41 elementary schools, 10 high schools and a school for adults. Over 21,000 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 are registered at CECCE schools.
- The Conseil des Ecole Public de l´Est de l´Ontario oversees French public schools for children from junior kindergarten to grade 12. The CEPEO operates 38 schools and oversees education in the French language for over 14,000 students in Eastern Ontario.
In addition to the public boards, there are numerous private schools in Kingston that cater to various spiritual and educational needs. Many of these facilities are able to offer smaller classroom sizes and specialized programs:
